Turn off the ability. Turn off the circuit that you’re engaged on on the circuit breaker box. If you are uncertain which circuit you are engaged on, turn off the main power switch to your own home while you are working.
Remove the wall plate covering your existing light switch with a screwdriver. Unscrew the existing light switch from the gang box and then disconnect the black and green wires attached to it.
Connect the Lutron dimmer switch to the wiring. Using wire nuts, connect the prevailing black wiring leads to the black wires on the back of the Lutron dimmer switch. Do the identical with the green wire (the bottom). The white wires will already be connected together.
Mount the Lutron dimmer switch into the gang box, then cover with the switch plate that came with the dimmer switch. Tighten the screws securely along with your screwdriver.
